The next days could be described in one simple word, Felicity

I liked having a daily routine and I got used to my work on Martina. Agenor treated me nicely and didn’t get mad at me for many days, which was a first or me… I felt more comfortable around him and really liked spending so much time sailing. Even though I was busy all the time but still, the rhythm of the waves under open skies along with the free horizon was enough sight to wipe away any fatigue or worries.

I kept spending the nights at the cabin; I never dared to try and sleep in the hull again; I know… what a coward right! I have to say, it was nice to be able to sleep in a real bed after the long laborious days. Besides, Agenor didn’t complain. I actually got the feeling he liked having me there. We got to talk about different things which made me feel like I knew him a bit more now; he has so many amazing stories that happened in farther seas, I always found him to be lucky for sailing for so long…

But his stories were not the only reason I enjoyed listening to him; to my surprise, he had very deep thoughts about life and people. I actually thought he was too wise for his age, but I guess that’s why he’s the Captain. He believed the Martina to be his home and his crew to be his family, and many times demanded that I consider them as such. I couldn’t really understand how that could be possible, but I nodded anyway.

He also had an evil sadistic side of him, a side that he tries not to show me but fails to do so; he liked making people who cross him regret their acts deeply and he enjoyed vengeance. I also found out how proud he was of his past piracy deeds and that he loved asserting his control over others the most.

Oddly he liked to hear my boring ‘land’ stories as well, and he seemed genuinely interested in my past and my thoughts. He also stopped pressuring me about things; he didn’t ask much of me or try to force me into anything, almost like letting me go by my own pace which truly made me loosen up to the extent that I came to enjoy his company and… well, sleeping in his embrace didn’t stress me anymore. I no longer worried about his reactions, about angering him, or about his intentions towards me. I honestly don’t like thinking about it because I don’t understand my own actions anymore, I find myself wanting to be with him, liking the taste of his lips, feeling cozy and secure at his mere sight. He used to be ‘the pirate who raped me’, now he’s just…. Agenor, the man I yearn to see him smile, the one who’s smirk sends thumps to my heart.

With this poised state, I unconsciously stopped thinking about my fate or about escaping.
